Sustainability & 3Rs: Engaging Communities

Engaging members of the community to actively participate in the process of improving the environment through the use of readily available materials like garbage for planting, container gardening, and 3Rs became the focus of Bituen in recent months.  Students from Obando, Bulacan aiming to reduce waste and make the river system more liveable. DepEd teachers experience first-hand the joys of turning waste into something useful, to be passed on to their learners.  Members of NGO recycle scrap fabric. Waste papers, boards, cans, and plastic... ...turned into a new life... Bituen partners with NGOs, various government agencies, schools, and business establishments to continuously educate and inspire citizens to become not only vigilant but also active in their duties for their surroundings. Sustainability & 3Rs

Second Priority Program of Bituen Organization is Sustainability and 3Rs a forum on what individuals & ordinary folks can do.  Since its launch in December 2013, the following forums and workshops have been conducted throughout the Philippines: 1. December 6, 2013 at University of the Philippines 2. March 21, 2013 at Marilao, Bulacan 3. March 28 2014 at Urdaneta, Pangasinan 4. May 12-13 at Tacloban City 5. October 17, 2014 at Obando, Bulacan 6. November 14, 2014 at the Girl Scout of the Philippines Banaoang Ilocos Sur Campsite We continue to look and cooperate with partners for these endeavors to achieve a greener, improved Philippines.

Sustainable Waste Management at Individual Level

 Aside  from increased literacy, Bituen have embarked on another critical issue in the country which is sustainable waste management through the publication of 3Rs of Fun in Waste currently available at  Amazon  and  Etsy . The book, although still in its early release (October 2012) has sold more than a thousand copies and has been generating awareness through  Inquirer  and  Philippine Star  online and offline. In a recent No Impact program of the Asian Development Bank through the assistance of Ms. Carolyn Cabrera and Ms. Rhea Reburiano of ADB, Dir. Emy Aguinaldo and Ms. Racquel Reyes of the National Solid Waste Management Commission secretariat, as well as the other officers of NSWMC and DENR, the book and the projects in the book were featured.
